OCN, a benchmark company in EDEM’s EMBA for addressing people-related challenges in expanding construction companies

Growing with consistency isn’t just a matter of structure. It’s, above all, a matter of people. With that conviction, OCN accepted EDEM’s invitation to take part as a benchmark company in the Executive MBA currently taught by the school for entrepreneurs, collaborating on the program’s People module.

OCN colabora con EDEM en el módulo de Personas del EMBA: gestión del talento en empresas constructoras en crecimiento

OCN is part of EDEM’s community of member companies, a link that reflects the company’s commitment to business development and high-level training. It was precisely from that membership that EDEM invited OCN to share its experience with EMBA students — not as an abstract case study, but as a living company, in the midst of a growth process, with real challenges on the table.

Two proposed challenges

On June 12, OCN presented students with the company’s real context: its track record, its operating model, and, in particular, the challenges posed by its growth and expansion into different locations.

Because when a construction company like OCN grows, questions about people become inevitable and urgent: how do you scale a multi-site model without losing identity? How do you build talent loyalty when teams are geographically dispersed? How do you pass on the company’s values and culture beyond physical proximity?

These aren’t rhetorical questions.

They are the concrete challenges OCN brought into the classroom for EMBA students to work through drawing on their knowledge and their own professional experience.

On July 4, participants will present their proposals, which will then be evaluated.

Lever for improvement

For OCN, this collaboration with EDEM fits naturally with its way of understanding the company: as a space where talent is a lever for excellence and external knowledge is always an asset. Sharing its own experience and challenges in a high-level training environment is a way of adding distinctive value to the business ecosystem, as well as drawing on perspectives and solutions that emerge outside the company’s day-to-day.

Talent management in construction companies going through expansion is one of the sector’s major themes. OCN, recognized in 2025 by CEPYME as Spain’s Best SME for Job Creation and Talent Development, knows this well. And it chooses to face it with the same attitude it builds with: with method, with rigor, and with the conviction that the best answers emerge from teamwork.
