Another Year with Villarreal CF: When Consistency Becomes Partnership

Some relationships are consolidated over time. The ones that start with a handshake and end up becoming something closer to a way of understanding work, effort and commitment. OCN’s partnership with Villarreal CF is one of them. Once again, we are renewing this bond, which is already part of our identity as a company and which grows stronger season after season. The new 2026-27 season kicks off with the Yellow Submarine back on our agenda: in the stands, in our conversations and, in some way, in how we think about collective effort.

From the Stands to the Boardroom

What began as a presence at the Estadio de la Cerámica —witnessing historic Champions League nights and the most thrilling LaLiga matchdays— has evolved into something qualitatively different. Today, Villarreal CF’s facilities are not just the setting for a sporting spectacle for the OCN team: they are also where we make some of our most important decisions. In the same way, we use the club’s facilities to hold our strategy committees. There is something about that environment —the José Manuel Llaneza Sports City, with its 70,000 m² designed for excellence— that invites us to think big and demand more of ourselves. Meeting away from the office, in a space linked to performance and elite competition, changes the tone of the conversations. It puts on the table, almost involuntarily, a question that sport knows how to ask better than anyone: are we giving everything we can?

The Villarreal Model: Big Without Losing Its Identity

Few stories in Spanish football illustrate the power of the right model as well as that of Villarreal CF. A club from a city of barely 50,000 inhabitants that has more than 20,000 season ticket holders, the highest percentage of season-ticket-holding population in all of Spain. A club that, without the resources of the big teams, won the UEFA Europa League in 2021 against Manchester United in a historic penalty shootout (11-10), and has reached the Champions League semi-finals twice (2006 and 2022). The Yellow Submarine doesn’t compete with other people’s money. It competes with its model: it bets on its own youth academy, builds with judgment, doesn’t depend on subsidies and has turned economic sustainability into a competitive advantage. The 2025-26 season confirmed it: third place in LaLiga with 72 points and the best goal-scoring record in the club’s history, with 72 goals scored.

That model feels familiar to us. Not because OCN is a football club, but because the logic behind it —growing with solidity, betting on people, not sacrificing principles to short-term gains— is the same one that guides the way we build.

What Sport Teaches a Company

High-level football is, among other things, a laboratory for managing teams under pressure. Seeing up close how an organization like Villarreal CF works —with its structure, its youth academy, its multi-year planning— offers lessons that are hard to learn in a classroom:

  • Consistency is worth more than occasional talent. A team that performs steadily over thirty-eight matchdays beats the one that only shows up in the big games. The same is true in construction: projects are won through daily consistency, not brilliant gestures.
  • The team is the method. Villarreal has not relied on unrepeatable stars but on a system. When one leaves, the next one fits in. That collective mindset, that club culture above any individual, is something we at OCN recognize as our own.
  • Adversity reveals character. We have stood by the club in times of European glory and in more difficult seasons. That loyalty is no small detail: real commitment is measured when things don’t go as expected, not when everything flows.
  • Values are not negotiable. Villarreal CF has spent decades rejecting shortcuts. It has preferred a longer but more honest path. And that path has led it to lift a Europa League and to be recognized as a European benchmark in sports management.

Local Roots: Another Thing That Unites Us

Villarreal CF is, above all, a club deeply tied to its territory. To the Valencian Community, to the province of Castellón, to the ceramics that give its stadium its name and to the industry that built the region. A club that doesn’t emigrate, that doesn’t forget where it comes from, that understands that its strength lies in its roots.

OCN shares that conviction. We are a company committed to the territory in which it operates, to the projects that transform cities and to the people who make them possible. That geographical and human anchoring is not a slogan: it is the reason this partnership makes sense beyond visibility or sponsorship.

A New Season, the Same Commitment

The 2026-27 season kicks off with Villarreal CF among the teams returning to the Champions League, after a LaLiga season that produced historic numbers. The Estadio de la Cerámica will once again host European nights. And OCN will be there, as it always has been: in the stands, in the strategic conversations held at its facilities, and in the conviction that the most valuable alliances are those built slowly, with consistency and a long-term vision. Because in football, as in construction, what lasts is not what is built in a hurry. It is what is done well.
